LED lighting in the street

Legal challenge prompts council to install new LED bulbs

'Barnet Council has agreed to install some new, softer LED bulbs after settling a legal challenge from a resident who complained the streetlights were too bright.
Sasha Rodoy, 70, suffers from heightened sensitivity to light following eye surgery several years ago.

She told the court that she could ‘hardly open my eyes against the glare’ caused by the 4000K LED lights.

The lights will now be replaced with 2200K warm white LED bulbs.

A Barnet Council spokesperson said: ‘We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Ms. Rodoy regarding her Court proceedings.’

The Times reported that the council's lawyers said they were ‘concerned that this could set a precedent’.

Ms Rodoy was reportedly asked to sign a confidentiality agreement, but she refused'.

Let's hope so!
